P.W.Tripp founded Tripp's Harley-Davidson on January 1st, 1956, in Roswell, New Mexico and moved the dealership to Amarillo in September of 1963.
On January 1, 1986, after 30 years of service, he handed the keys over to his son, Terry, and decided to retire to the life of a cattleman in Turkey, Texas. Terry took over management and continued the legendary operation of Amarillo's only authorized Harley-Davidson dealership.
In 1998, Terry Tripp decided to relocate and redesign the image his father set forth. He packed up the parts, folded all the clothes and moved the storefront from Georgia to the busiest road in Amarillo, Interstate 40. On December 1, 1998, Terry hung the Harley-Davidson Bar and Shield where it rests today, high above the Helium Capital of the world.
